Belcher D.Min

Resume.pdf

With twenty years of dedicated service in the U.S. Army as the first military chaplain endorsed by the Association of Independent Methodist Churches, I bring a rare blend of pastoral depth, real-world resilience, and hard-won wisdom to every audience I address.

My ministry has been shaped through serving in some of the most demanding pastoral care settings of the past two decades. For six years, I ministered within three of the nation’s leading military medical centers—Madigan Army Medical Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and Brooke Army Medical Center—as a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Level II clinician. During that time, I provided spiritual care to patients, families, and healthcare professionals facing trauma, the COVID-19 pandemic, critical illness, and the growing mental health challenges affecting young adults.

These experiences have given me firsthand insight into the spiritual and emotional struggles facing the next generation. They have also deepened my conviction that lasting resilience and genuine healing require more than psychological strategies alone. My ministry seeks to strengthen the biblical and theological foundations that sustain faith through suffering, offering a perspective shaped by years of pastoral presence in moments of crisis rather than theory alone.

Now, I am passionate about turning those lessons outward, helping small churches within the Methodist tradition navigate the challenges of today’s ministry landscape. Whether speaking on chaplaincy, mental health in the military, or revitalizing small congregations, I offer practical, faith-rooted insight audiences can put into action immediately.

My ministry includes supporting military chaplains, leaders, and Unit Ministry Teams (UMTs) as they prepare for and respond to the spiritual and pastoral challenges associated with pre-combat and combat-related trauma, with the goal of strengthening resilience and readiness. I also enjoy partnering with pastors and congregations by providing sabbatical coverage, pastoral support, and guidance for churches seeking renewed vision and engagement in fulfilling the Great Commission.

For those interested in learning more about my background, my full résumé—including my education, ministry experience, skills, and areas of expertise—is available at the link above.

The vision and mission of SoulDocs is to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and the local church, cultivating a renewed passion within the community of faith that reflects the holiness of God in the world today. Grounded in the eternal truths revealed by the Father through Jesus Christ and preserved in His inspired, inerrant Word, SoulDocs is committed to biblical fidelity and the historic confessions and doctrines of the Christian faith. These foundational convictions guide and shape every aspect of the ministry, equipping and shepherding the church toward spiritual health, faithful discipleship, and Christ-centered renewal, serving as a “doctor for the soul” of the church.

About the Author Paul R.
